Applicant must have been accepted
as a full-time student seeking a baccalaureate degree in an established
area of study. Applicant must attach proof of acceptance at college.
Applicant must
have graduated or be in the procss of graduating in June fron an approved
secondary school that serves a specified area (primarily Aroostook and,
to a lesser extent Washington counties); or must be from one of these schools
and currently attending college.
Applicant must be in
the top fourth of his/her high school graduating class and have participated
in non-academic activities and exhibited good citizenship or must be making
satisfactory progress in college.
All things being equal,
preference may be given to descendants of graduates of Ricker Clasical
Institute, Ricker Junior College, and to offspring of longtime Ricker teachers
and staff members.
Scholarships will be
payable upon completion of the fall semester provided that the student
is in good standing at the college, that all required reports have been
recieved, and is enrolled as a full time scholar for the spring
term.
All applications must
be postmarked no later than the fourth Friday of April of the current year.
The Board of Trustees
of Ricker College, believing that schlarly achievment and good citizenship
should be rewarded, shall strongly consider these factors, as well as financial
need, when s are reviewed and monetary awards made.
Applicant must use the official
Ricker College Scholarship Form available at the Administrative Offices
of Arroostook and Washington County high schools or from the Ricker Scholarship
Fund Office. Photo copies are acceptable.

Officially signed transcript
of high school grades must accompany application. Students currently enrolled
in college must also include copy of college transcript or grades.
The parent/gaurdian shall
submit a brief statement in all cases indicating family's financial needs,
obligations, and resources. However , financial need is not a primary consideration
in determining awards, but may be helpful in making some decisions.
A resonable number of
exhibits ofoutstading achievement in citizenship, athletics,dramatics,
music, art and community activities may be included.
Scholarships are awarded
for one year and generally will be renewed each year as long as student
continues to pursue a course of studyand to make satisfacorly progress
towards a baccalaureate degree. However , the recitiant must submit an
"Application for Continuation of Scholarship" each yeay using the
appropriate form which is sent out each summer in July.
Scholarships are not
awarded for more than four years. However, students who have been in the
schollareship program for three or more years of a five-year program may
contact the Executive Director regarding possible changes in the four year
rule.
Parents of applicants
must indicate clearly that they or their parents were graduates of Ricker
or longtime employees thereof if the applicant claims a direct relationship.
Local guidance office
(or administrative office) will do initial screening of applicants. Nomination
of award winners will be made by the Scholarship Screening Comittee of
Ricker Trustees, and approved by the full board.
High school guidance officials
are advised to submit more than two applications from their school.
